The Longer Moments (poem)
Jan. 15th, 2020 02:56 pmWhat you fear and what you know is something less than what you show
For in the winter's midnight glow reflecting off the fallen snow
a darkened, shaded figure, finding solice in the night
A wish cast gently to the air where crisp cool winds will find it there
And make a pact to show the care, as much as wishes ever dare
This gaurantee to be set free, without the life that shows it light
A knife so sharp it cuts through dreams, which once upon a time did seem
To shimmer and did often gleam while pressing forward under steam
This wish you've cast that night, returned to make things right
If simple things could understand, why taking one's once shaken hand
Can be the most delighted brand, with no force needed, no demand
Step cleanly through and breathe fresh air, know dreams at first on sight
A heart so shaded by the cold, you've never seen this heart so bold
Your own forced judgement getting old, that whispers here and there have told
Undaunted by the stares you feel upon your back so tight
Before this moment passes through, you'll be aware of all you do
Believing what you once held true and finding fear as it comes to
Still knowing that it could be there and cursing that it might
For in the winter's midnight glow reflecting off the fallen snow
a darkened, shaded figure, finding solice in the night
