Spiritual language and the physical world
Jul. 23rd, 2025 08:51 amI’ve heard some people teasing “spiritual lingo.” Lots of joking about “energy” and I suppose I want to address some of this. To be clear, I enjoy understanding both the emotional world and physical world. I like to know the what and the why.
Somatic work is just checking in with all our afferent nerves and trying to chill them out and balance their literal energy... giving the mitochondria in our neurons and axons a reminder that they’re allowed to rest.
It’s like having a conversation with your friend who’s stretching themselves too thin and wearing themselves out.
Our nervous system is constantly firing literal electricity at itself, through the millions of mitochondria in each and every nerve cell. That system needs a break. It needs peace and rest.
I find this fundamenal understanding to be rather eye-opening. We have a physical world tied to our feelings and sensations. Somatic (in body) work is a conversation with the trillions of cells in our body and trying to balance the literal energy within us.
As for “holistic.” Holistic is a term used to encompass all of the whole... a holistic awareness of self is to know your mind, body and social self... what I like to think of as our “soul.”
Everyone is just trying to understand their world. I don’t see any value in making fun of people’s chosen language.
