Sometimes I like to divide my favorite images and wallpapers into sections to see why I love them. I identify subject, main focus, what draws the eyes... without fail, there's always some applicable "rule of composition" like the commonly known rule of thirds.

...this may also explain why I find it so difficult to appreciate tight-cropped, center-frame full body portraits. The depths of my mind desire foreground and background division. My soul wants story... narrative awareness... something deeper than just an object-like subject.

Like, toss a rust-colored rock on the concrete. Cool, look at that rock. Nice rock. Boring, but nice rock.

Toss that rust-colored rock in a pile of black, white and grey rocks then snap a picture with the rust-colored rock at the top right or left third intersection of the frame it suddenly becomes the most beautiful thing.

It's unique... a vibrant message among dreariness.
