Permanence (poem)
Feb. 15th, 2020 08:10 amChoosing love over lust, built on trust
None to turn to in an instant, passing beauty
All you would imagine, never been
All the world is a stage, unseen
Hear my depths of passion as they play
Without a soul to speak or say
There is no way I'd wish for something fleeting
It does so disappoint in its defeating
My fragile heart, still beating, only bruised
Having nothing but my love to lose
I cannot give you what I've yet to find
All the trust built in kind, with you reeling through my mind
I'll sit here, ever enchanted by a moment, thoughts of starlight
Wherever I am, recalling the crisp winter's night
As the sky, through its haze, relaxes a heart
Chilled to the bone in the cold and dark
No matter how much you fail to understand
They will always be there protecting this land
Stars, so far away, yet so near
Able to remind us all of things we should hold dear
None to turn to in an instant, passing beauty
All you would imagine, never been
All the world is a stage, unseen
Hear my depths of passion as they play
Without a soul to speak or say
There is no way I'd wish for something fleeting
It does so disappoint in its defeating
My fragile heart, still beating, only bruised
Having nothing but my love to lose
I cannot give you what I've yet to find
All the trust built in kind, with you reeling through my mind
I'll sit here, ever enchanted by a moment, thoughts of starlight
Wherever I am, recalling the crisp winter's night
As the sky, through its haze, relaxes a heart
Chilled to the bone in the cold and dark
No matter how much you fail to understand
They will always be there protecting this land
Stars, so far away, yet so near
Able to remind us all of things we should hold dear
