Dad’s planning to install 1” insulation in his trailer so he can carry or install a heater for Sno Drift rally work… and similar cold weather projects.

This is work I’m not super skilled familiar with but close observation could help.

His current plan is to install the insulation on the ceiling because it’s the thinnest surface on the trailer.

It can also help me connect with dad around maybe shooting photography for Jankowski Motorsport and other teams during Sno Drift. Not only that... he wants to do some laps around M1 in his Viper, next year, which means I can potentially discuss the Sigma 70-200 and 150-600 lenses with the Megadap ETZ adapter for both events and his Kennonball Viper road rally in June/July... or maybe August? I don't remember when that is.

Either way, the 70-200 and 150-600 lenses will be ideal for capturing that event and having a dji Action 5-6 or GoPro HERO 10+ would be ideal camera bag essentials.

He used to be quite enthusiastic about things like this and he's always been willing to invest in shared family projects. My sister was social logistics manager for the last Kennonball, so I suspect he'll be pretty stoked about the idea of his son having a proper media coverage kit.

Having a dad who's this deeply ingrained with automotive lifestyles has been both amazing and horrible... his levels of stress fluctuated and made a rather unpredictable human to live with. Now, I rent a townhouse he owns but he's still living somewhere else and this has always been a relatively peaceful if passively aggressive arrangement in the past.

There's plentiful opportunity, especially now that he's settled back into the fact he placed me on disability at age 15 and mom's not here to guide him, offer suggestions or pressure reasonable investments for the family or his communities.

I'm working with my therapist on social and educational efforts to eventually, with the support of my family and local friends... push beyond disability income and into earning for a living.

Thing is, dad's essential for affording the more expensive investments like a Laowa 8-15, NIKKOR Z MC 105 and Sigma's 70-200 and 150-600 with a Megadap adapter.

I might be able to afford an action cam for quick, dedicated video coverage... but SnoDrift is in February, so I'll need to press some urgency on at least something.

I don't know what I might prioritize for rally but probably the 70-200 for circuit shots, 8-15 for paddock and parked rally cars... and Z MC 105 for details and human portraiture.

The 150-600 would really only be "necessary" for track days with Cousin Mike around Waterford Hills, Dad's M1 laps and the Kennonball.

...now, I'll be backburner brainstorming a safely accessible backpack to sit with in the passenger seat of a Dodge Viper.

These are all rational and valuable investments; unlike the $10,000 Chrysler Crossfire he had me sitting in a dealership to buy that I turned down. It was going to be a gift but I had already been about halfway through paying off a $5,000 PT Cruiser. That was more reasonable to me.

...dad's still pretty pissed that I didn't accept the Crossfire but I think he's softened about it.
