Values - some are a bit blunt
Nov. 1st, 2025 09:26 amWhat are my values as a sterile, childfree and radically sober, straightedge individual?
First, money doesn't mean shit if it's not supporting a fulfilling life.
I’m a simple man. I’m happy eating ramen and sleeping on a mattress on the floor as long as I’m making consistent creative investments and I’m not being pursued by single moms.
Fulfillment is defined by the individual. Unfortunately, US society tends to educate a divisive "independence" mindset instead of nurturing healthy, individuated, supportive interdependence and that perpetuates the toxic grind mentality rife with sedative self-pleasures and intoxication instead of expression and true connection.
...and we tolerate instead of empathize.
I can’t help feeling disheartened when people turn to hating others instead of acknowledge flaws in the systems that shaped them. I also feel rather terrified when anyone is brainwashed by the breeder and capitalist propaganda that destroys their bodies, minds and souls.
I want to see and engage with a world centered on life and environmental protection, not consumption and destruction. Yes, one side "balances" the other but we can’t do anything if we’re constantly fighting about what should be done or whether people we’ll never meet are the cause of our misery or threats to our way of life. Besides, take a look at what's "balancing" in that balance... it's not all life-affirming effort.
Our best course of action, I believe… is communication. It’s developing and nurturing healthier communication skills… and art is communication. Art is expression of life and photography is celebration of life while expressing beauty.
Childfree doesn't mean, "No babies or toddlers." It means I don't want to be with anyone from whom life has sprung forth. I don't want children and I have a surgical vasectomy. I'm also straightedge and radically sober because I have "low ego strength" and I'm exceptionally susceptible to the wonder and awe of other people's lives for which I need rigid boundaries.
Many people take advantage of those like myself who accept and appreciate all others at face value... that includes breeder culture biased communities, self-righteous believers, substance abusers and generally anyone who doesn't want to be alone and wants to spread their beliefs.
Childfree means I don't want to be with single moms, whether their kids are 3 or 30 because good parents remain nurturing and loving even after their kids leave the house. Good parents remain equitably charitable until they die and many are region-locked by their adult children. If you're not an equitably charitable parent you're probably a terrible, selfish person and I wouldn't be with you even if don't have kids.
In the end, I believe people who just have kids for the sake of having kids are selfish, lack vision and also might be a little too self-centered to realize the global impact of human civilization. We're consumers... and we often pay little to no attention to the damage done by what we're consuming.
I was born to a rather heavily-consuming family and I developed my own personal appetites which I constantly reassess and try to keep in check.
I value life, exploration, sex, love, art, expression, communication, celebration of human creative and collaborative capacities... and many of those values are heavily hindered by the confines of certain lifestyles... which I set boundaries against.
